Statewide is excited to once again offer opprotunties for service projects along side our elective seminars. Your youth group will have the opportunity to choose between attending 3 seminars, or 1 seminar and a service project to be completed on Saturday. Space for service projects is limited. If you’re interested in participating in a service project, please be sure to tell us when you send your registration. Service projects will be assigned on a first come basis.
The Saturday morning main session will be over around 10:45am. Following main session, there will be 3 seminar times (11am-12pm, 2pm-3pm, and 3:30pm-4:30pm). Your group has the option to do all 3 seminars, or 1 (morning) seminar and an afternoon service project. Examples of this year’s service projects could include (serving at a soup kitchen, assisting with a clothing drive, doing a visit at a nursing home, etc).
If you want to participate in a community service project, please sign up on your registration form. If your group chooses to do a project then you will be assigned a project that will take anywhere from 2-3 hours and will participate in that project sometime between lunch and dinner.
Service Projects are OPTIONAL.
Process for requesting a Saturday afternoon service project:
1) Fill out the additional 2012 Service Project Registration
2) If you have been assigned a service project, your leader will receive a call from a Statewide Committee member a couple weeks prior to the conference. Information will be given to the nature and location of your group’s service project
* note, if you signed up on the registration form for a service project but do not receive a phone call, your group was not selected for a project. Your group will participate in afternoon workshops instead.
3) Your group will be given more detailed information about your service project Friday night at the conference. In your registration packet will be an invitation to a meeting about service projects.
